A social causal meeting every Saturday to discuss the book we're reading.
Right now, we're reading through the World of Warcraft novels to get a deep dive into the game's lore, but books not related to WOW are also welcome.
World of Warcraft: The Last Guardian by Jeff Grubb
Current progress: Just Beginning
Next week's discussion: TBA
Be nice to each other and just be a human
Read with intent to understand and be open to multiple interpretations since everyone will interpret things differently and that is what will help all of us understand the lore better when we try and understand things from each other’s perspective
Ensure you’re coming to the sessions up to date with the weekly reading goal, if you have gone beyond what was set as the goal please avoid spoiling the story for others – respect that everyone will read at a different pace and not everyone may be able to devote as much time to reading as you can
Ask questions – in fact, as A LOT of questions – we may not have all the answers, but these questions can lead us to further delve into the in-game lore, quests, zones, etc.
Book #1: The Last Guardian
Details the tragic story of Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal, corrupted by the dark titan Sargeras, chronicling his life from childhood, awakeninghispowers, his apprenticeship with the young Khadgar at the tower of Karazhan, and his role in opening the Dark Portal for the Orcish Horde's invasion. This will help get more context on characters like Sargeras & Khadgar who have a very important role to play in the World Soul Saga
Book #2: Chronicles Vol 1
Codifies Warcraft lore, covering the universe's creation, the rise of the Titans, the emergence of Old Gods, the shaping of Azeroth, the first wars, and the origins of races, concluding with the events leading up to Warcraft I, including the fall of Sargeras and the awakening of Medivh.
Book #1 & #2 will have some overlaps, and it is important to understand the perspective in each book to be able to fully appreciate some of the events
Audiobook #1: A Thousand Years of War (On YT)
This has a lot of information on Alleria & Turalyon’s time away from Azeroth, and will provide a lot of context on each character’s motivations going into Midnight & The Last Titan. We will also learn a lot about the nature of light & void through this audio drama alongside that of the Nathrezim.
